ABOUT TZW

HISTORY OF THE

TORONTO ZOMBIE WALK

The zombie walk started one gloomy Sunday, a week before hallows eve in 2003. A handful of the living dead rose from their graves to wander the streets of Toronto in search of brains.

The plague returned every year, and the zombie count grew into a large and deadicated legion of the undead. Not only did the plague hit Toronto, it hit New York, Vancouver, Ottawa, Melbourne and numerous other cities around the world. In 2006 The Toronto Zombie Walk joined forces with the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, to ensure zombies have an enjoyable evening of flicks to see after their flesh eating endeavors. 2012 marked our ten year anniversary and we hoarded in over 10,000 people!

WHO IS PUTTING ON

THIS EVENT?

The Toronto Zombie Walk & Halloween Parade is put on  by a DEADicated group of volunteers that work tirelessly throughout the year to make sure that every year’s walk is a fun, safe, inclusive and successful event that can be enjoyed by everyone!

Year-round planning, organizing, coordinating, fundraising, promotion and decision making responsibilities are performed by the TZW Board of Directors and Committee.

We are proud to be a volunteer-based, community-run, grassroots events and we work hard to ensure this event continues to remain in the hands of the public.

WHAT IS A ZOMBIE WALK?

It’s basically what zombies do best, besides eating brains, they lurch shamble and drag barely hinged limbs down the street.

WHY ARE YOU DRESSING

LIKE A ZOMBIE?

What other monsters have such unity as a mass in death?! Plus it’s just fun.

MUST I COME AS A ZOMBIE?

All present should be attired in the dress of the undead, and Bloody Mary will also be there donating blood to those in need.

WHAT IS A ZOMBIE WALK LIKE? CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN?

The videos below show walk highlights from a couple of years. Watching them will give you a good idea of what a walk is like and will help you decide if you feel it is appropriate for your children to participate in.

WHAT IS A ZOMBIE WALK & HALLOWEEN PARADE?

Deadlings! We are pleased and proud and EXCITED to announce that this year for the first time ever we are adding a Halloween parade to our zombie walk!!!!

A REAL Parade, ok maybe surreal! With marching bands, bike floats, a drum line and more!!! In honour of this metamorphosis, we are inviting ALL MONSTERS to come and walk, bike, crawl or lurch with the ZOMBIE HORDE!

So if you’re a werewolf, a mummy, a vampire, a creature from the black lagoon, or a zombie (because come on, we all love to shuffle) come to Toronto’s first ever Zombie Walk & Halloween Parade!

INTERESTED IN WALKING AS A KREWE?

If your a community group, school group, a gang of co-workers, a buisness, a non-profit, or even just a group of friends you can enter your group into the parade as a "krewe". This gets you and your troupe your own spot in the parade so your group doesn't get lost in the horde. More information and the registration form can be found on the Register page.

The Web of the Undead!!
